Voting for Governor of California, 10 Candidates Running

          We started with 32 candidates but only 10 completed the process, met the requirements, and are on the June 2 ballot. Starting May 4 ballots will be mailed for vote-by-mail. You have two months to decide on whom to vote for Governor of California.

         Candidates on the ballot are listed below in alphabetical order by name, including their party and a descriptor. South Park Neighborhood Association (SPNA) does not endorse candidates but does provide information about the candidates. The SPNA May Scene newsletter will include additional information about each candidate.

  • Xavier Becerra, Democrat, former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary and former California Attorney General

  • Chad Bianco, Republican, Riverside County Sheriff

  • Steve Hilton, Republican, Fox News contributor and former adviser to British prime minister David Cameron

  • Matt Mahan, Democrat, mayor of San Jose

  • Katie Porter, Democrat, former U.S. representative representing Orange County

  • Tom Steyer, Democrat, billionaire entrepreneur and former presidential candidate

  • Eric Swalwell, Democrat, U.S. representative from the Bay Area

  • Tony Thurmond, Democrat, state superintendent of public instruction

  • Antonio Villaraigosa, Democrat, former mayor of Los Angeles and former Assembly Speaker

  • Betty Yee, Democrat, former State Controller
