‍ ‍ Graffiti removal from windows in the middle Oceanwide tower began the week of August 10 — but not without problems.

First, water supply issues stalled removal early in the week. The second problem: some of the "artists" had used several layers of paint topped with a clear coat — a combination that hadn't appeared in the original test panels. That discovery necessitated testing additional chemicals to find one that worked quickly without damaging the glass or metal.

John Petty, Executive Vice President of Real Estate and Construction for The KPC Group, said the team's goal was to clean a minimum of seven balconies per day. "The week of August 10, we averaged four per day. I have every confidence that we will soon hit our seven mark," he said, adding that the project remains on track for a 90-day completion.
