Downtown Central Business Improvement District (DCBID) Now the DTLA Alliance

Update

The venerable DCBID, which has been at the forefront of Downtown LA’s renaissance for over 25 years, has rebranded itself the DTLA Alliance.  The move is to emphasize the importance of advocacy and community building partnerships in the rapidly changing landscape of Downtown Los Angeles and to offer a structure for the future.  The DTLA Alliance has openly advocated and established co-programing with The South Park BID and is looking for ways to promote both neighborhoods in the future.

Like most other large cities following COVID, Los Angeles is facing daunting changes in economic profiles that have in the past resulted in thriving growth.  “With the pandemic firmly in the rearview mirror, the focus today is on understanding how urban life is changing and how DTLA is adapting to those changes,” said DTLA Alliance Executive VP, Nick Griffin.

“To counter the loss of many of our downtown workers as a result of the trend to home officing, we’ve got to focus on the residential sector.  Residents were a critical factor in weathering the effects of COVID and its rapid recovery and this sector is today more and more important to the city’s recovery.”

The focus will now be on building the residential population in Downtown LA by advocating for new residential construction and all the amenities important to a vibrant lifestyle and community including, green belt, retail, entertainment, dining, medical, and educational facilities.

This is going to be a big job.  To this end the Alliance has recently published its 2024 DTLA Outlook and Insights Report.  The link to this fascinating in-depth document is https://downtownla.com.
