Sugar Sugar™ is Bringing Clean Beauty to South Park

‍ ‍ If you've walked down 11th Street over the past year or so, you've probably wondered about the storefront under construction with big signs for Sugar Sugar™. Behind those doors is a beautiful new clean beauty day spa that's bringing organic sugaring, custom airbrush tanning, and facials to South Park. Even better, it's being opened by two of our own neighbors.

Neighbors and small business owners, Debby and Scarlett are excited to introduce Sugar Sugar (TM) to South Park.

Mother and daughter Debby and Scarlett have called South Park home for seven years. They first moved to the neighborhood while Scarlett attended FIDM, and after graduation, neither of them wanted to leave. Today, Scarlett works as an actor while Debby is a screenwriter. Recently, Debby worked with a franchise broker and spent months exploring business opportunities before one name kept rising to the top.

"I just kept circling back to Sugar Sugar™," she said. The more she learned about the brand’s founders, all-natural services, product line, and values, the more convinced she became that it was the right fit for her and Scarlett and that it belonged in South Park.

Sugar Sugar specialist demonstrates the studio’s all-natural sugaring hair removal process during my visit.

Founded in Arizona, Sugar Sugar™ is growing steadily across the country, with South Park becoming its first California location. The woman-led company has built its reputation for clean, plant-based beauty services and creating welcoming spaces where clients feel comfortable from the moment they walk through the door.

Warm wood accents and soft peach tones created a bright, welcoming atmosphere throughout the Sugar Sugar studio.

The new studio, on 11th Street, offers all-natural sugaring, a hair removal method that uses a simple sugar-based mixture. Additional services include custom organic airbrush tanning and vegan facials. During my visit, specialist Treasure and Bemnia walked me through every step of my own sugaring treatment as part of their training, explaining the sugaring process, how it differs from waxing, and making the experience feel approachable, even for a first-timer.

Scarlett shows the natural, dimensional results of the Sugar Sugar custom organic airbrush tanning.

The custom airbrush tans are applied almost like painting the body, creating a natural, dimensional finish in about 10 minutes using a solution derived from fermented fruits. Tucked away in a quiet corner, the facial room offers five signature facials plus a customizable treatment called The Trademark. Debby and Scarlett are especially excited about making high quality all-natural skincare accessible, with 50-minute facials starting at $90.

Guests can relax in the bright, comfortable lobby while enjoying views of one of South Park’s most walkable streets.

Frequent visitors can also join one of the studio's curated membership programs. One option is $9.99 per month, which includes 15% off every service and retail product, along with a quarterly treat.

One of the studio’s hidden gems: a beautifully designed bathroom featuring peacocks, flowers, and calming shades of green.

While the spa follows the Sugar Sugar™ signature design throughout, the new location has a DTLA vibe and Debby and Scarlett found one place to let their personalities shine: the bathroom. Covered in peacocks, lush blue flowers, and a soft sage green, it's a cheerful surprise that feels like a little hidden gem inside the studio.

Perhaps what stood out most during my visit wasn't just the beautiful space, but how welcoming everyone was. More than anything, Debby and Scarlett hope neighbors will stop in to say hello. Whether you’re curious about sugaring, thinking about trying a spray tan or facial, or just want to see the beautiful new space, they’d love to introduce themselves and show you around.

As this article was being written, Debby and Scarlett are in the final stages of getting the Sugar SugarTM studio ready and receiving their final approvals to open. Keep an eye out for their opening announcement very soon!

One of the best parts of living in South Park is watching neighbors build businesses that become part of the community. We're excited to welcome Sugar Sugar™ to the neighborhood, and even more excited that it's being opened by neighbors who already call South Park home.
