Part IV: Entertaining a Romantic Partner in the Neighborhood

Living in one of the greatest cities in the world means that you will inevitably have visitors from out of town. We love them, but people who aren’t local to Los Angeles don’t know the first thing about planning a fun day here. Let me help you entertain in our neighborhood and a bit beyond!

If you missed the first three parts of entertaining visitors, you could catch up with these links to June’s intro, July’s entertaining friends, August’s entertaining family. Then move on to this month’s entertaining a romantic partner.

Romantic Partner – If you have a long-distance relationship, it’s important to show off your city so you can convince them to visit more often (plus, this is the best time to try out expensive places if you know that he’s paying!) Here are some activities for a fun-filled sexy Saturday that will help you make memories.

Zinque

11 am – I’m pretty picky when it comes to brunch spots, but Zinqué has a great menu and has plenty of cocktail options. Plus, it’s a sunny environment with great service and is walking distance to many places in the neighborhood.

South Park Farmer’s Market

Next up – our neighborhood Farmer’s Market from 9 to 2 pm on Saturdays at Grand at 11th. It’s a great place for a casual coffee, pastry, pies or if you need a meal or just some fresh fruit while wondering the neighborhood.

Throw Clay

1 pm – I love activities when it comes to dates.  A one-time class at ThrowClay is an enriching and fun experience making pottery that will bring you and your partner closer together. Make sure you book these tickets in advance because it does fill up. You’ll have to wait three to five weeks before your finished product is fired and ready to pick up, but when you do, you’ll have a treasured keepsake to use in your home.

2:30 pm – After you spend a class making art, it’s time to go break stuff. Rage Ground is a fun place to let loose and expend some energy on breaking bottles, cars, furniture, or any of the other options they have for you in this safe and controlled environment. Book this in advance so you know when to show up. But I promise it will be a unique date that will leave you two laughing about this side of your personalities you’ve never gotten to see before.

Then it’s time to go home, rest up, and get changed for date night.

7 pm – Go to dinner at Joyce Soul & Sea. It is so good. It’s elevated southern food in a trendy, romantic environment. Make reservations in advance. Indulge on oysters, scallops, and caviar. You can’t go wrong with any of the cocktails or the shareable plates. The serving sizes are big enough to feel like you’re getting a full meal and small enough to try multiple things. The seating is romantic and intimate. You’ll be glad you came here.

9 pm – Finally, for a romantic nightcap, head over to Blue Rooftop Pool Bar at the Riz Carlton. With full views of the city and Los Angeles skyline, you’ll feel like this neighborhood is truly the most luxurious in the world.

I hope you have enjoyed my entertaining in the neighborhood posts!
