Don’t Even Think About It, Bus Lane Enforcement
This is a public service announcement! If you discarded the recent mailing from Metro since you never ride the bus, it was intended for you, a car driver. Here is what you need to know when driving.
Metro has begun a camera program on its busses to automatically ticket vehicles that block the bus-only lanes and bus stops. LADOT will review evidence of parking violations detected by Metro to determine whether citations will be issued to owners of registered vehicles.
Vehicles parked in a bus lane or at a bus stop, for reasons other than making a right turn, make getting on and off the bus dangerous, especially for those with disabilities. Unauthorized parking in a bus lane disrupts and prevents on-time service. The bus-only lanes were created to provide efficient service for transit riders.
The streets in South Park with bus-only lanes include Olive, Grand, Flower, and Figueroa. Outside of South Park, close by Wilshire is also included. In the future Broadway may be added.
Do not drive in a bus lane or park in a bus lane or at a bus stop. Only use the bus lane to make a right turn. This is your warning!
