Developer Relevant Group presented a proposed mixed-use development at 1220 S. Hope Street to the Planning and Land Use Committee of Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC). The proposal is for an eight-story building with 531 studio apartments, parking for 109 vehicles, and 7,000+ square feet of ground floor commercial space. Twenty-seven of the apartments would be for low-income households.

 The proposed hotel project at 1130 S. Hope, opposed by Luma and Evo HOAs, has moved forward with the filing of permits on February 13, for an eight-story hotel with rooftop deck, one level basement, and retail space at ground level.

   A pre-Valentine Day event with cardiologist Dr. Marc Girsky on February 11 at Ten50 hosted by SPNA (South Park Neighborhood Association) and Dignity Health California Medical Center provided answers to a range of questions regarding heart healthy topics.

Your South Park representative on the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC) is the closest elected official to your daily life. Their main responsibility is to represent you among the myriad of LA city departments including your CD14 representative. DLANC is the liaison between you and LA city government. You get to vote on who represents you in April.

South Park is more than just a residential neighborhood. It's also a transit hub bringing people in from around the city as well as an entertainment space that pulls people from around the world. Across four days, I set out to talk to those people who visit us to find out their thoughts on South Park.

Los Angeles has long been a city of dreams, but recent events have tested the resilience of its inhabitants. The devastating wildfires that have ravaged the area, coupled with a government that seems increasingly disconnected from the needs of its people, have left many Angelenos feeling lost and disheartened. Yet, in the face of these challenges, a beacon of hope has emerged, exemplified by the growing involvement in local neighborhood associations.

Questions must be asked after a spectacular fire in the unoccupied Morrison Hotel on Hope near Pico several weeks ago and a subsequent fire in adjacent buildings to the Morrison Hotel a week later.

Expanded next-generation health care and medical services arrived in South Park with the opening of the Grand Tower at Dignity Health California Medical Center in early January.
